Nihi Ké' Ba’ is a collective of Diné citizen scientists focused on improving our homelands for a healthier future rooted in our ancestral knowledge. We are addressing the harmful effects of the extractive industry to develop sustainable economies that heal the land. We started by surveying households to understand the health and environmental impacts of coal mining in our communities. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we adapted by providing essential aid to over 10,000 households. Our mission is to create sustainable infrastructure while healing the land and our bodies, as we work to reclaim our autonomy and restore our traditional ways of life.
